Our story
Clearview opened in 2004, when Priya Patel left a busy high-street chain with one idea: that an eye test should never feel hurried. She took a lease on a shop at the quiet end of Spectacle Row, fitted it out with her dad and brother, and saw her first patient on a wet Tuesday in March.
Twenty years on we are still on Spectacle Row, still family-run, and still independent. We have grown from one optometrist to three, with a contact lens optician and a dispensing optician, but the idea has not changed.
How we work
- Time. An NHS test is 30 minutes and a private test 45. We would rather run a little late than rush you.
- Choice. Book with the optometrist you know, or take the next free appointment.
- Plain talk. We explain what we find and what your options cost before you decide anything.
- Looking after it. Frame adjustments and repairs are part of the service, and we guarantee our frames for 12 months.
Being independent
We are not owned by a group, so nobody tells us which frames to stock or how many tests to fit in a day. We choose frames from small makers we like, and we send you back to your GP or the hospital eye service if we find something that needs more than we can offer.
Come and say hello: meet the team, read the journal or book a test.
This is a demo shop; Clearview Opticians is fictional.
